Monday saw a large South swell hit our beaches. Driving into work that morning, I nearly choked on the sight of spitting barrels at a local spot which picks up Souths particularly well. The breeze was blowing offshore, and I held my hopes up for the lunch break surf. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes before I went out, the wind started howling onshore, knocking the waves down and churning up the chop. What an amazing bummer!
Today, the conditions were cleaner, however the swell is dropping quickly. Looking at the forecasts, it doesn't appear as if we'll be seeing anything of significant size for the remainder of the week, so maybe you should plan on taking out your small wave board over the next few days. And with all the wind we've had, the water temperature has dropped a few degrees to the 69-70 range, I'd guess. Still trunkable, but noticably cooler than the weekend.

Driving into work today, I was kicking myself for not getting up early for a dawn patrol session, as the waves looked very nice. At work, I kept up hope that the winds would stay somewhat calm for my lunch session, and luck was with me today.
Today, the set waves were overhead, with shoulders present some of the time. It wasn't super consistent, but it was very fun. This swell is supposed to stick around and potentially increase tomorrow, and we are looking at another swell coming in early next week! Woo-hoo!
Bob, who is out of the water due to a knee injury, took my camera down to the water and was nice enough to snap a few pictures of me...
Taking off on a small left:
Speeding down the line, backside:
Here is a short little sequence of three pictures:
Unfortunately, Bob left before my wave of the day rolled through, but oh well! Luckilly, he also missed two of my major wipeouts ;> . I had a blast out there...

The ingredient lists are laid out in a very interesting manner which is hard to describe - you'll just have to look at it yourself! Some of the recipes look particularly appetizing - I may have to give some of them a try in the very near future.

Not only does the site alphabetically list all the places in Springfield, but they have also created a large map of Springfield as well! Take a peak and see if you can find any places from your favorite episodes.

We're off camping for the next few days at a local beach campground. Hopefully, I'll get in plenty of surfing, rest, and relaxation with the family. I should have some pictures when I get back...
Sep 09, 2004 15:31 | [ surf ] | # | G | Comments (0)Tuesday morning was my first dawn patrol session in quite a while, and it felt nice to get out in the water before work. The days are getting shorter, so until Daylight Savings Time kicks in, the AM sessions will get darker and darker. The waves were a bit inconsistent that morning, and I was assaulted by a rather large sardine near the end of the session.
These last few days have produced some small, but fun surf. Tomorrow, a swell from the Northwest should begin to show, peaking Friday morning. I hear the dawn patrol calling!
