It's been a quirky day around the office, and I've got two humorous links for you all today. The first is another one of those internet songs that you can't believe were ever made, and are yet somehow strangely hum-able. Without further ado, I give you Milk and Cereal.
Part two of this quick double shot of humor involves beards. Not just your average, run-of-the-mill beards. Nope, we are talking about the official web site of the World Beard and Moustache Championships. Those are some pretty insane examples of facial hair gone wild.

Last Thursday, a power outage struck our office, and we were forced to surf instead of work. Oh, the horror. We went up to Oceanside and surfed some nice, chest-high sets with one clean up set rolling through and blowing me clean inside. Now THAT reminds me of winter!
Friday saw the best surf at our regular lunch time haunt in the last several weeks. It wasn't great, but the size was above average and the water was nice and smooth. Today, the red tide was back in full force, and it wasn't as nice out as it was on Friday. I managed to catch a few of the larger set waves that made their way in, and called it a lunch. Not too bad...

The law would fine spammers $1,000 for each unsolicited email, up to a maximum of one million dollars for each campaign. I wonder if individuals will be the recipients of this money, or if this is a way for Governor Davis to create new income streams for our ineptly managed government?

The water must have dropped around 5 or 6 degrees, and my hands and feet were cold even though I was in my spring suit. As for the waves, they were pretty mixed up and breaking real shallow, so rides were typically short and closed out.
Sep 23, 2003 14:45 | [ surf ] | # | G | Comments (0)On the drive into work this morning, I took the coastal route and was surprised to see some very nice sized waves breaking along the coast, and was extremely hopeful for the lunch break surf session today. The waves have been pretty much miserable this summer, with the exception of one standout week where the waves were extremely fun. It has been a barren surf-wasteland the last few weeks, and if you look in a surfer's eyes, you'll see it.
So it was with much hope that we made our way down to D street, and oh how quickly those hopes were crushed. The southern swell had backed down, and the wind had kicked up, making for a choppy session. I caught a few good sized waves, but most just closed out. And the water is still mud brown from the red tide we have been experiencing the last couple of days. *sigh*
Sep 22, 2003 12:40 | [ surf ] | # | G | Comments (0)Here I am, back in the water again. It appears as if I haven't missed much in the way of surf over the last week, and today continued the trend of sub-par surf for southern California. The minimal amount of northwest swell we are getting make for small waves with poor shape. However, it was good to just get back in the water again, and get a bit of exercize.
Sep 17, 2003 14:20 | [ surf ] | # | G | Comments (0)Things have been a bit quiet around here for the last week or so, for a variety of reasons. First of all, I started feeling very ill last Monday evening (the 8th), and didn't come into work the following day. It was the usual sinus cold/infection, and it is still bothering me now, though not nearly to the extent as those two days.
Then, I had a business trip to Minneapolis, MN last Thursday and Friday. As one may suspect, travelling on 9/11 with sinus problems was not too enjoyable. On the other hand, I did get to meet several people I've worked with over the phone and internet for the last four years, so it was well worth the trip.
So now I'm feeling a bit better, with no business trips in the near future. I'll try and get back to updating the site with the usual surf reports and doses of humor to get me through the week.
Sep 17, 2003 10:01 | [ general ] | # | G | Comments (0)The South swell that has been gracing the shores of most of Southern CA has unfortunately missed most of North County, except for Oceanside. The last three days have seen small, but clean conditions in Encinitas, with the last two days being particularly nice as far as wind is concerned.
Over the weekend I'll try and hit Oceanside to get some of this swell before it fades on us. Wish me luck!
Sep 05, 2003 13:40 | [ surf ] | # | G | Comments (0)Labor Day was spent with family and friends by the pool, with lots of good tasting BBQ to tide us over. Here are a few pictures I snapped while not eating or swimming. Something seems to be a bit tweaked with the digital camera, which just whets my appetite even more for the upcoming Canon Eos Rebel 300D. *drool*

Wherever it went, it was not at the usual lunch break surf spot today. The water was choppy and the waves were fairly inconsistent. I caught a left or three, and Bob did the same. Here are a few pictures of Bob taking off, with me doing nothing in the backround. Click the images for a larger version of each.
