Tuesday Afternoon Surf Report
I haven't posted a surf report in quite some time, however this does not mean that I have been neglecting surfing. No, the surf conditions have just been incredibly crappy for the last two weeks, and reporting this continually would be somewhat depressing. With the exception of one or two sessions, the wind and lack of swell continue to combine for mediocre conditions at best. Man, what I wouldn't do for a decent swell to come along.
However, I do have one bit of happy surf related news to relay. A week ago, I sold my beast of a longboard (affectionately called the 'Big Dog') via an ad in The Reader (online ads are free!). I then sold around 11 games I had in my closet, via ebay. The total take was pretty nice - nice enough for two surfboards! I saw a used 6'5" Channel Islands single fin online, and arranged to meet the seller and check it out. Here she is:
The color is probably not one I would have initially selected, but I'll admit that it is growing on me. It looks vaguely edible... I think I shall call her 'Grape Ape'.
A close up of the fin. Note that it was glassed locally by the fine folks at Moonlight Glassing.
And finally, a picture which shows the concave sections surrounding the tail. Think of them as turbo jets for surfboards...
